Environmental Services and Consulting, Inc. (ES&C) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Environmental Scientist in our New River Valley office.

Requirements: At a minimum, the successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree and 5 years experience in the natural resources field, or a Master’s degree and 3 years experience. The successful candidate will have, or be able to obtain within a short time, certification from the Society of Freshwater Science for macroinvertebrate taxonomy in Eastern EPT Taxa and Eastern Chironomidae. Other preferred skill sets include stream and wetland delineation experience, electro-fishing experience, and other wildlife survey experience (mussel and bat preferred).
Duties: The primary responsibilities of this position include design and implementation of biological surveys and biomonitoring projects. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. This position includes the identification of macroinvertebrates to the lowest possible taxonomic level, generally to the genus/species level for many projects and includes slide mounting or organisms and some sorting of organisms under a dissecting scope. Applicants should be proficient with invertebrate taxonomy.
